Avenatti sentenced to four several years in prison for thieving from Stormy Daniels

Former law firm Michael Avenatti has been sentenced for thieving from pornography actress Stormy Daniels.

U.S. District Court Choose Jesse Furman sentenced Avenatti on Thursday to four decades in jail for thieving from his former client Daniels as they tried to sue former President Donald Trump, in accordance to NBC Information.

Avenatti, who is serving a sentence of 2 1/2 several years for his 2020 conviction for extortion and transmission of interstate communications with intent to extort and wire fraud, could have 30 months of his 4-year sentencing served concurrently with his present-day sentence, Furman mentioned.

The former attorney was convicted in February of defrauding Daniels. He pleaded not responsible at his demo and was permitted to symbolize himself in courtroom.

Avenatti was found guilty in 2020 of trying to extort Nike for up to $25 million and was sentenced to 2 1/2 several years in jail. Avenatti represented himself for 6 months in an embezzlement case, which resulted in a mistrial previous calendar year just after clientele alleged he cheated them out of thousands and thousands of bucks. Avenatti is awaiting a retrial.

He was arrested and jailed in January 2020 and has been in residence confinement in California due to the fact April of that calendar year.
