Just one of my thoughts about bidding, a person I cherish in opposition to sturdy opposition, is that players bid — and bid and bid — without regard for the consequences.

Sure, climbing into the opponents’ auction can disrupt their circulation of details and impede their accuracy. In the IMP Pairs at the ACBL Spring NABC, Ron Gerard was declarer at 4 hearts. He opened 1NT following 3 passes, and North transferred to hearts. Then West could not resist coming in with two spades, immediately after which North-South bid to game.
