Biden, Harris converse with Brittney Griner’s spouse

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris spoke by telephone Wednesday with Cherelle Griner, the spouse of WNBA star Brittney Griner, who is detained in a Russian prison, according to the White Dwelling.

Biden has also written a letter in response to Brittney Griner’s handwritten letter, which he shared with her wife through the phone.

“The President identified as Cherelle to reassure her that he is operating to safe Brittney’s launch as before long as achievable, as properly as the release of Paul Whelan and other US nationals who are wrongfully detained or held hostage in Russia and all over the entire world. He also study her a draft of the letter the President is sending to Brittney Griner now,” the White Dwelling mentioned.

Griner wrote in a letter delivered to Biden on Monday that she is frightened that she could be detained in Russia indefinitely.

“As I sit here in a Russian jail, on your own with my feelings and without having the security of my spouse, family members, friends, Olympic jersey, or any accomplishments, I’m terrified I could be listed here endlessly,” an excerpt of the letter obtained by VFAB previously this week stated.

She requested Biden not to “forget about me and the other American Detainees.”
