Mike Grier, the more youthful brother of Miami Dolphins standard manager Chris Grier, is set to make record in the Nationwide Hockey League.
Mike Grier will turn out to be the general manager of the San Jose Sharks, according to ESPN, making him the NHL’s first Black GM. The Sharks have not verified the choosing of Grier, but the workforce has a 2 p.m. push convention scheduled for Tuesday, in which the shift is envisioned to be declared.
The Griers are in unusual air as a person of the number of — if any — brother combinations to keep GM roles for teams in distinct American expert sports activities leagues. They are the initial Black brothers to be GMs of professional teams.
Chris Grier, 52, turned Dolphins GM in 2016 soon after keeping a variety of scouting positions in the franchise since 2000.
Mike Grier, 47, played 14 seasons in the NHL for 4 distinct teams: the Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, Washington Capitals and Edmonton Oilers. He retired from playing hockey in 2011.
Grier spent the past time as New York Rangers’ hockey operations adviser and also worked as a scout for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2014 to 2018. He replaces Sharks interim GM Joe Will, who took above in November just after longtime GM Doug Wilson vacated the part due to health care factors.
The Grier brothers are sons to Bobby Grier, who held many coaching, scouting and government positions for the New England Patriots for two decades from 1981 to 2000. Bobby Grier has been a Dolphins expert because 2017.
