CHICAGO (VFAB) — Police are responding to a taking pictures at a July Fourth parade in a Chicago suburb, authorities stated Monday. No casualties have been formally documented, but witnesses described seeing bloodied bodies coated with blankets as hundreds of people today ran for protection.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the parade commenced all-around 10 a.m. but was instantly halted 10 minutes afterwards following photographs were fired. A Sunlight-Times reporter observed blankets put more than 3 bloodied bodies. Quite a few witnesses instructed the newspaper that they listened to gunfire.

Hundreds of parade-goers — some visibly bloodied — fled the parade route, leaving at the rear of chairs, child strollers and blankets.

Law enforcement told individuals: “Everybody disperse, be sure to. It is not risk-free to be in this article.”

Video clip shot by a Sun-Moments journalist soon after the gunfire rang out demonstrates a band on a float continuing to participate in as persons run past, screaming. A photograph posted to social media appeared to clearly show pools of blood near upturned chairs in downtown Highland Park.

Gina Troiani and her son ended up lined up with his daycare class all set to walk onto the parade route when she heard a loud audio that she believed was fireworks — right until she read people yell about a shooter.

“We just begin working in the reverse way,” she explained to The Involved Press.

Her 5-12 months-aged son was using his bicycle embellished with pink and blue curled ribbons. He and other children in the team held smaller American flags. The city said on it’s website that the festivities have been to involve a children’s bike and pet parade.

Troiani claimed she pushed her son’s bike, working by the neighborhood to get back again to their car.

In a video that Troiani shot on her cellular phone, some of the young children are visibly startled at the loud sound and they scramble to the side of the road as a siren wails close by.

It was just sort of chaos,” she stated. “There were being folks that obtained separated from their households, wanting for them. Other individuals just dropped their wagons, grabbed their young ones and started operating.”

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker mentioned in a tweet that he is “closely checking the problem in Highland Park” and that Illinois Condition Law enforcement are helping. The ISP reported in an email that it was aiding in the response to an lively shooter noted all over 10:24 a.m.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Workplace said on Twitter that it is assisting Highland Park Police “with a taking pictures in the space of the Independence Working day parade route.” The sheriff’s place of work directed an VFAB reporter to get in touch with Highland Park Police. The Police Office reported no one particular was quickly out there to remark.

Debbie Glickman, a Highland Park resident, mentioned she was on a parade float with coworkers and the group was making ready to turn on to the key route when she saw people functioning from the area.

“People commenced saying: ‘There’s a shooter, there’s a shooter, there is a shooter,’” Glickman told the Related Press. “So we just ran. We just ran. It is like mass chaos down there.”

She did not listen to any noises or see anybody who appeared to be hurt.

“I’m so freaked out,” she explained. “It’s just so sad.”
