Former United States Maritime and Earth War II veteran Carl Spurlin Dekel cried in excess of the recent state of his region as he celebrated his 100th birthday on June 29.

The 100-yr-aged veteran's gratitude was mixed with sorrow for the subsequent technology.

Dekel's centennial birthday arrives as the United States faces historic inflation with a recession looming amid reports of the overall economy shrinking for a second consecutive quarter.
