After garnering nationwide focus around a proposed resolution that would ban abortion and make the town a “sanctuary for life,” a Southern California metropolis has ditched it.

On Saturday, the San Clemente Town Council held a distinctive meeting and voted 3-1 in favor of hanging discussion of the resolution from its forthcoming Aug. 16 meeting agenda, in accordance to a report.

The only vote to preserve the resolution on the agenda arrived from Councilman Steve Knoblock, who drafted the resolution to say the city “stands firmly against” abortion, acknowledges that lifetime begins at conception, and expresses opposition to Prepared Parenthood clinics in the coastal local community of practically 65,000 people today.
