A team representing 30 of the migrants who were flown to Martha's Vineyard are demanding legal investigations by the federal govt and the condition of Massachusetts.

Lawyers for Civil Rights, who are representing some of the migrants, sent letters to the U.S. lawyer for Massachusetts and the lawyer typical of Massachusetts asking them "to formally open up prison investigations into the political stunt that introduced two planeloads of immigrants to Martha’s Winery earlier this week," for each a statement on their site.

In the letter to U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins, the team alleges there ended up "civil legal rights violations" with the way the migrants were transported.

"After the planes landed, people who experienced induced our purchasers to journey below these untrue pretenses disappeared, leaving our shoppers to find out that the provides of help had all been a ruse to exploit them for political functions. This conduct deprived our shoppers of their liberty by deception. It interfered with their means to comply with federal immigration obligations, these types of as attendance at hearings and look at-ins. The perpetrators qualified our shoppers dependent on race and countrywide origin in get to make the political place they wanted," the group reported in the letter.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who organized the flights to Martha's Winery for migrants, doubled down on the method Friday, expressing he would organize for transportation to "a total bunch of other destinations" in the close to long term.

DeSantis also dismissed statements the migrants were tricked on to the planes, stating they ended up offered prior discover of their desired destination.

"The individuals that are contracted, not only did they give them a release variety to signal, they truly give them a packet, and ... that packet integrated a map of Martha's Vineyard, so it was noticeable that's where by they have been likely," DeSantis reported.

DeSantis joined Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's system of offering transportation for migrants to sanctuary jurisdictions. Abbott has sent buses to Washington, D.C., New York Metropolis, and Chicago.
