High school football rankings Week 3, 2022: Bay Area News Group Top 25 [ad_1]

Maybe Serra should have been No. 1 all along.

The Padres ended last season atop the Bay Area News Group’s Top 25 but opened this season in the No. 2 spot behind De Le Salle, which, well, always starts the season No. 1.

Serra is back on top now after rallying from 14 points behind in the fourth quarter last week on the road to defeat De La Salle 24-21.

The San Mateo powerhouse is 2-0, with road wins over De La Salle and Folsom. De La Salle fell to No. 2, followed by three public schools: Pittsburg, Menlo-Atherton and Wilcox.

Bellarmine, perhaps the best 0-2 team in Northern California, slipped two spots but remained in the Top 10 after losing on the road in overtime to McClymonds on Friday.

The only newcomer in the rankings this week is Archbishop Mitty, which followed an impressive Week 1 victory over Palma with a rout of Mountain View in Week 2.
