LeBron James and Drake sued and accused of thieving rights to Black Ice hockey movie

NBA star LeBron James is being sued and accused of stealing the “intellectual assets rights” to a movie he assisted create, Black Ice.

Billy Hunter, previous govt director of the NBA Gamers Affiliation, filed a lawsuit in the New York state Supreme Courtroom saying he secured the rights to the tale primarily based on a novel about the Colored Hockey League, a former segregated league for black players.

In addition to James, the lawsuit also lists Maverick Carter, James’s company spouse, rappers Drake and Long run, George and Darril Fosty, the first novel’s authors, and various affiliated publishing and manufacturing firms.

“I really don't imagine they believed the assets rights would be litigated,” Hunter advised the New York Publish. ”They considered I would go absent. They gambled.”

Hunter is trying to find $10 million in damages and a share of the film’s gains.

“While the defendants LeBron James, Drake and Maverick Carter are internationally acknowledged and renowned in their respective fields of basketball and music, it does not manage them the correct to steal another’s intellectual property,” the court docket complaint reported, boasting that Hunter paid out $265,000 for the film legal rights to the tale.

The film is set to be showcased at the Toronto Intercontinental Movie Festival on Sept. 10.
