North Korea launched a missile about the weekend that landed in the Sea of Japan, South Korean officials confirmed.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Workers noted the start took place just right before 7 a.m. KST Sunday, which was about 6 p.m. EST Saturday, but did not share the missile's vary or trajectory. This launch arrived just in advance of the South Korean military's planned huge-scale armed service drills.

A U.S. plane carrier arrived in South Korea soon in advance of the launch in preparing for Vice President Kamala Harris's trip throughout Asia, where she programs to go to South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Harris is building the excursion largely for former Key Minister Shinzo Abe's funeral on Sept. 27.

The last time North Korea introduced missiles was in June when it launched 8 quick-assortment missiles, triggering the United States to simply call for U.N. sanctions from the region for violating United Nations Security Council resolutions.
