Jimmy Garoppolo couldn’t do enough at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, giving the Denver Broncos Russell Wilson a chance to pull out a win that could have been a loss.
The 49ers were defeated 11-10 Sunday night by the Denver Broncos. Wilson is now 5-1 against Garoppolo and 18-4 against the 49ers, with all previous games coming as quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks.
Wilson put together an 80-yard, 12-play drive to put Denver up by the final score, with the 49ers batting down a two-point conversion pass. It came on a night where Wilson was struggling as much as Garoppolo and the Broncos were being booed by the home crowd for their offensive futility.
Garoppolo got the 49ers near midfield before forcing a first-and-10 throw in the direction of Deebo Samuel, who was blanked in coverage. Jonas Griffith, a former 49er, caught the deflected interception just before the two-minute warning.
Garoppolo was 18 of 29 for 211 yards, one touchdown, one interception. Wilson was 20 of 33 for 184 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions.
