Los Angeles Town Council President Nury Martinez introduced her resignation Monday amid mounting backlash in opposition to leaked audio that highlighted her earning racist remarks.

A cacophony of voices, including fellow customers of the town council had prodded her to resign, following she was caught on tape disparaging the black kid of a white fellow town council member as "ese changuito," which interprets to "that minor monkey," among other racist retorts.

"I take obligation for what I claimed and there are no excuses for those people feedback. I'm so sorry. I sincerely apologize to the folks I damage with my words," she stated in a assertion.

Alongside Martinez's remarks were being comments from Councilmembers Kevin de León and Gil Cedillo as properly as Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera.
