Stimulus 2022: Residents in Maine have nine days to claim $850 relief checks
Brady Knox October 22, 07:00 AM October 22, 07:00 AMMaine residents have until the end of October to claim COVID-19 relief checks worth up to $850.
An estimated 858,000 Maine residents will receive a check, bringing the total up to $729.3 million given back to taxpayers, according to the office of Democratic Gov. Janet T. Mills. The stated purpose of the checks is to help alleviate the financial stress caused by inflation and the pandemic.

“What this budget shows once again, through hard work and good faith negotiation, Democrats, Republicans, and independents can come together to do what is right for Maine people and that we can do so without rancor or bitter partisanship that has sometimes divided Augusta in the past,” Mills said.
To obtain the new check, residents must file a 2021 individual income tax return by the end of the month, to which last year's deadline has been extended.
