Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles brushed off questions about race in just the NFL during a press convention on Tuesday.

One particular reporter questioned Bowles to comment on the significance of two black head coaches, particularly himself and Pittsburgh Steelers mentor Mike Tomlin, coming head-to-head in a game Sunday.

"We will not glance at what colour we are when we coach against every single other, we just know each other," Bowles responded. "I have a whole lot of pretty good white pals that coach in this league as very well. I really don't think it is a huge offer as much as us currently being — coaching against just about every other."

"We mentor ball, we never look at coloration," Bowles said.

One more reporter adopted up with a similar question, asking Bowles to comment on how representation issues in the league.

"When aspiring coaches or even players see you fellas — see somebody who appears to be like them, that grew up like them — that has to necessarily mean something," the reporter reported.

"Perfectly when you say 'see you guys' and 'look like them' and 'grow up like them' indicates that we're oddballs to start off with," Bowles mentioned. "I believe the moment that you fellas quit building a massive offer about it every person else will as very well."

Bowles was named the Buccaneers coach this 12 months just after coaching the New York Jets from 2015-2018. He beforehand received the AP Assistant Mentor of the Year award in 2015 though with the Arizona Cardinals.
