Not to be believed: Liverpool-Arsenal referee threw a wild elbow at the player; demand measures

This Sunday, April 9, one of the most emblematic classics of the Premier League, as Liverpool was against Arsenal, left countless actions that go around the world. The game that ended with a vibrant 2-2, also left images that have been condemned by the fans and even the protagonists of the duel.

Beyond what happened in sports matters, an unfortunate fact remained in the retina of the fans. When the game ended, one of the Liverpool players, Andy Robertson, went looking for the linesman to claim a controversial action.

However, and to the surprise of many, the judge did not hold anything back and sent an elbow to the face of the player who was initially perplexed by his actions, but later went to look for him to claim him.

To the rescue came Mohamed Salah, one of his teammates to calm things down and finally go to the dressing rooms with his partner.

"The linesman has elbowed me in the throat!", a surprised Robertson exclaimed to the camera at the foot of the field of the Sky Sports broadcaster.

For now, the Premier League authorities have not yet ruled on this controversial fact that has gone around the world.

The outrage has been monumental in networks, since the player never exceeded the limits of respect with one of the game's authorities.

The body responsible for professional refereeing in England (PGMOL) announced just after the match that it opens an investigation to clarify this incident.

The Premier got hot

Arsenal blew a two-goal lead at Liverpool (8th) to finish 2-2, reducing their lead at the top of the Premier League table to six points over Manchester City, who also have with one less game.

The Brazilians Gabriel Martinelli (8) and Gabriel Jesus (28) put the Gunners ahead in an exquisite first half that predicted a win for the Londoners, but Liverpool reacted and tied with goals from Egyptian Mohamed Salah (42) and fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino (87).

Salah also missed a penalty (54) that could have led to the victory of the Reds .

“Our reaction was good and the end of the game was spectacular. I don't know how we didn't win with the chances we had at the end," Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp said after the game.

"They are a fantastic team and it is very difficult to dominate them during the 90 minutes," said Mikel Arteta for his part to explain the difference in Arsenal's game between the first half and the second.

Arsenal misses two points that could end up being decisive for the title fight, since City, who thrashed bottom club Southampton 4-1 on Saturday, is only six points behind (73 to 67).

However, the team coached by Pep Guardiola has a game postponed (the one that will be played on May 3 against West Ham) and before that, on April 26, they will receive Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, in a duel that could mark the fight for the championship.
