OAKLAND — A man was found shot to death Sunday morning near the Ivy Hill area, authorities said.

Police were trying to confirm the man’s identity but believe he is a 22-year-old Oakland resident.

He was found dead about 1:33 a.m. Sunday outside a vehicle that had crashed in the 2400 block of Park Boulevard at Brooklyn Avenue, an area of small businesses and residences.

Police have not yet said if the man was the driver or a passenger in the vehicle.

Police believe the shooting may have happened at another location and were trying to find that scene.

A motive for the killing is under investigation. No arrests have been made.

The killing is the 83rd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year and the fifth since Friday night.

On Friday night, a man fatally shot another man in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. As the shooter was driving away, he was mortally wounded by gunfire from acquaintances of the man he just shot. He then struck and killed a bicyclist before his vehicle crashed, authorities said.

In another killing the following day, a 43-year-old man was fatally shot on Saturday morning in the 600 block of Sycamore Street, not far from the Friday night killings. Police do not believe that killing is related to the Friday homicides.

Last year at this time Oakland police had investigated 84 homicides in the city.
